Louise Arbour reads my blog!

So, a mere two days after my post on secret CIA prisons, Louise Arbour has come out to say that the system of secret CIA jails should be abolished. She also notes that the CIA interrogation practice policy is secret and so there is no way to tell if it conforms to the revisions made to the Army Field Manual that explicitly outlawed certain techniques. It's always nice to have some support at the highest levels of world government! ;o)

Hey, thanks for stopping by. Will have to visit your site again. Nice commentary.

Interesting that you're supporting Kennedy. I have to say that I haven't really paid much attention to the candidates save for a passing read now and then but given the time is come for delegate selection, I should start reading more on the matter if I intend on going to the convention myself.

Hey, nice to have visitors.

I hadn't thought too much about the race either, until I went out with a friend of mine who is working on Gerard's campaign. I had vaguely positive feelings about him, which so far have been borne out, but there's a lot of time left. I have to confess that when it comes to later rounds if GK doesn't make it I will be pleased to support almost anyone who isn't Michael Ignatieff. I'm sure I'll write about that in detail one of these days!

Hmmmm are you implying that because I'm a lawyer I'm just as good as Mama Louise? If only most lawyers were as deserving of respect as she...

not really I'm implying that the status between you and her would be the same as it would between my status and a stay at home mom and a lawyer.. do you see what I mean?

Hahaha of course I understood Sara - I was intentionally being a bit obtuse. But I did want to make the point that the difference between Lousie Arbour and myself is the difference between a very junior lawyer and an incredibly accomplished and internationally recognized jurist. Me to you would only be analogous if I were an incredibly accomplished and internationally recognized parent, which I'm not. Only in a world where lawyering (which is intrinsically parasitic) is considered both comparable and vastly superior to parenting (which is intrinsically creative and also of course necessary) could we be so separated in status as I am from Lousie Arbour.

I don't think they're comparable at all, and if they are then I would almost certainly have to give the social advantage to child-raising over formalized-argument-making. Which is to say that I'm honoured to have someone like YOU reading MY blog!

your status has just been bumped, apparently Linda Hershman reads my blog now :)

and oh boy you will make a damn good incredibly accomplished lawyer soon, with you smooth talking and all lol.

You had me worried, lawyers are educated to debate and I thought you would make me blow a gasket talking to you about it :), It was my honor to read your comment and thank you...
